Music Therapy and Mental Health
Music can help support one’s mental health healing in so many different ways.
Music can promote relaxation
Music can help reduce symptoms of anxiety
Music can help us express ourselves in new ways or when words are challenging
Music can help us build insight into what we are experiencing
How I use music in music therapy
Use singing to help regulate your nervous system
Use specific music for listening to promote relaxation
Use lyric analysis to build insight to stressors
Use song writing and instrument play for self-expression
What it looks like
If you are interested in music therapy, I will ask you what your music preferences are during our first session.
When we meet, I will ask you what is most important to work on for the session. Based on your response, we will chose a music therapy approach that best fits your need.
All music therapy experiences are tailored to your musicality- it’s 100% okay if that is 0. You do not have to be a musician to benefit from music therapy!!
