About
Writing these things give me a little anxiety- anyone else? I’m hoping I can share things that will be relevant to you and what you’d like to know.
My Background:
My career started with music therapy- music is everything to me. It’s part of who I am and a support throughout my whole life. Understanding how it helped me, I knew I needed to share it’s healing capacity with others. I’ve used music therapy in many settings such as the NICU, child and adult medical, with neurodivergent folks, and child and adult mental health groups.
I wanted to add additional verbal skills to my practice and found myself aligning with counseling. My experience in counseling has led me to supporting pregnant and postpartum (perinatal) folks, children and teens, substance use, and couples.
My Beliefs:
I believe everyone has the tools within themselves to overcome what is going on. I love finding your strengths and using it as a strategy to help. My primary counseling framework is ACT- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. We look to your values to guide your choices and work towards building a life that aligns with what you want to see. I may add a little humor from time to time, too.
I have experienced the power of adding creative art therapy to my own process which led to deeper insight and allowed me to express myself when words were not always there. I also understand that some folks may not feel comfortable adding expressive arts, and that’s okay! I want individuals to feel comfortable - which means you get to choose what works best.
